The Arizona Western College Foundation is excited to announce the call for nominations for the 2015 Endowed Faculty Award! Nominations must be filed with the Foundation by November 13, 2014. Please read the guidelines and criteria for nominations.

Endowed Faculty Achievement Award

The purpose of this award is to recognize faculty for their outstanding contributions to their profession, their college, their students, and their community.

This award is based upon evidence of excellence in supporting and motivating students, advancing AWC through career, participation on committees, student activities, partnerships, and community outreach.

There are two separate endowed funds that support this award program:

  1. Shadle/Edgecombe Endowed Fund
    Established by Steve and Bobbie Shadle in recognition of Bobbie's parents and their dedication to higher education.

  2. Frances Morris Endowed Fund
    Established in honor of Frances Morris who served as a Board Member of Arizona Western College for 28 years. Frances was a strong proponent of education and passionately supported the college in many ways.

Award Guidelines:
There are 2 awards available this year, each for $2,000.00. In the event there is only one qualified candidate, one award will be presented.

Nomination Guidelines:
Nominees must be full-time AWC faculty members with at least 5 years of full-time AWC service. A nominee may not be a past recipient. If a nomination is made for someone who serves on the Nomination Committee, that person must recuse themselves or decline the nomination. Nominations may not be solicited for this award.

Students, faculty, staff, or members of the community can nominate using the attached official nomination form. A nomination form is also available on the AWC Foundation's website: www.foundation.azwestern.edu.

Nominees must be champions of student learning. They must demonstrate a dedication that goes beyond the scope of their profession and show a commitment to the College and the community at large. There are 4 categories to be considered:

  1. Innovation in Instruction:
    Enriches the classroom with knowledge, experience, and vitality; demonstrates the characteristics of good college instruction: subject knowledge, enthusiasm, clarity, ability to engage students, creativity, and exhibits effective teaching methods; demonstrates leadership; is a resource on general academic matters, teaching methods, processes, or approaches.

  2. Commitment to Student Success:
    Provides service and assistance to students; offers individual tutoring and instruction that enhances a student's understanding of the course material; has the ability to accommodate varying learning pace and styles; generates excitement for learning.

  3. Contributions to Mission and Goals of the College:
    Participates in a manner that conveys a positive impact on his or her professional capacity at the college; volunteers on department or division committees; supports faculty/staff through presentations or involvement in campus events; is recognized on a division, college, state, or national level for contributions to college or career.

  4. College Community / Community-Civic Involvement:
    Participates in community organizations and campus activities; extends learning and teaching beyond the classroom into the community by involving students in special community activities appropriate to other required learning experiences; demonstrates involvement in club work or with student organizations.
